People often lament the fact that babies do not come with a manual! Yet the science shows us that the first days, weeks and years of a child’s life have a lasting impact on their long-term health, happiness and wellbeing. Given this early period is so critical, we want to equip everyone with the knowledge of how babies’ brains are shaped and the role we all play in promoting healthy development. Introducing these concepts and ideas to children in secondary school offers a unique opportunity to establish a universal understanding for the next generation of parents.

We are supporting the University of Oxford to undertake research into how the growing body of knowledge about the science of early development could be included in the secondary school curriculum. Led by Professor Alan Stein, the team will be working in collaboration with world-leading neuroscientists, child development experts, and school leaders to create, test, and assess age-appropriate curriculum material.
